Discrimination is back in the conversation. The new Premier of Alberta, Premier Smith. Has recently come under fire for suggesting that in her lifetime she hasn’t seen a more discriminated against group than the Unvaccinated.
During the last two years of the pandemic, the unvaccinated claimed discrimination. Why exactly? Well maybe first we should check out the definition of discrimination.
Discrimination is defined by the Oxford dictionary as:
the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.
Notice in the definition that it says different categories of people. It’s not an argument at all to suggest, “The Unvaccinated” are in fact a category of people. Now let’s look at the first part of the definition. Unjust or Prejudicial treatment. This is almost too easy. The unvaccinated were unjustly and prejudicially treated as if they were sick and unclean, and the reason for the spread of the virus (which we all know to be factually false more than ever due to recent data and research). Therefore, the Unvaccinated were being discriminated against.
Simply put, disallowing a category of people into stores, malls, events, sports, restaurants, government buildings, and hospitals based on not injecting a substance into their arms was discrimination.
The often touted argument from the unvaccinated would be to bring up a situation in history such as Nazi Germany’s treatment of the Jews or the Jim Crow laws in the united states, that were used to keep people out of certain parts of society based on skin color.
HOWEVER. There was a much-used rebuttal to this similarity being suggested.
The rebuttal was “You choose not to be vaccinated, Jews, and African Americans didn’t choose their race”. Now, often for most this would end in frustration, as yes, the unvaccinated chose not to be vaccinated, and knowing the consequences put in place by government sectors and bureaucrats, decided they would be left out of society. This argument again is being used currently by the woke crowd, and the media to suggest it’s only actual discrimination if it’s something you can’t control.
This is 100% a stupid and ignorant argument. I come from a racially mixed family in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia. My older siblings are half-black. I grew up very aware of discrimination. Due to the makeup of my family, I, a white kid at times received racist comments and was discriminated against because of who my siblings were. What was obvious to me was that these other kids CHOSE to be discriminatory.
You see the woke and the mainstream media are forgetting the real factor. That factor is the person who discriminates chooses to do so. It’s not the person who is being discriminated against who has made that choice but the one who is doing the discrimination. In the case of the last 2 years, Canadians were asked to discriminate against others by their own government, and a vast many chose to obey and discriminate. THIS IS EXACTLY the same thing that occurred in above-mentioned Nazi Germany and Jim Crow South. A government body “ok’d” the discrimination and the people obliged.
So when Premier Smith says she hasn’t witnessed this much discrimination leveled at any group more than the unvaccinated in her lifetime. SHE IS RIGHT. No other group has been purposely targeted like this since the 70s in Canada, and I challenge anyone to show me a group more discriminated against.
So the next time some blue hair says “AHKTULAY, They didn’t choose their race, you chose this”, don’t say anything, just know they are the ones choosing to discriminate.
